 Okay, so I'll do one post per week. I can handle that much, right? So, what the hell am I doing again?

... it's still going on. The creative funnel cloud. The snow storm. The watchfulness.

I did lose my fucking pencil, by the way. Irritating. Seems so dumb to buy a new one, but maybe it will lead to a Joycean adventure. Yup. Probably will.

UPDATE: I found my pencil this morning. It was in a book... on writing... Note to self, etc.

What's a pencil?

I'm feeling like there should always be an original... so, I'll start with a pencil... whatever comes next, I can't be held accountable for. Seems like in the olden days, I was always beating myself up about not drawing well enough. That was not very constructive. No. Pretty dumb, really. I think I was afraid of what would happen if I gave up the futility of "doing it right," (cf Daft Punk, c 2013). It bears repeating. Pretty dumb, really. I regret much. I think I've kinda failed because I was too cowardly to "just be me." Like the successful people in the bank ads always are... Like the people who really had the talent, like the people who had really figured it all out.

A dull fellow

So, I'm working through some unimaginative-ness... Sue me. What's more cliche than modeling a 3D dumpster? Maybe modeling a 3D wooden pallet?? I'm just trying to work through the model/texture process in a "faster" manner. I still feel desperately out of shape... Not sure where this is going, really... Could be the basis for the city scene in an animation I've been working on this summer... or a bigger enviro-collage thing (more likely)... based on tragedy of post-apocalyptic world emerging at every turn. Been to Springfield, OR lately?

Okay, it seems pretty clear I'm scared unto death of re-connecting with some kind of actual "feeling" in my work... Do I dare to eat a peach/peach-pecan muffin/chocolate croissant?

Creaky w/ Creaky Voice

It has been a long, long time, Rocket People. But here goes. . .

1. I'm redesigning the Arms & Ether website to include a variety of projects. Inspired by needing to put something together to apply to Stumptown Comics Fest.

2. Am sending off Arms & Ether issue 1, a collection of the web comics, Volo, and Crane Book to be printed.

3. Busting out some more work for TwinPinks.

4. Many more things in the pipeline, but enough for now.

Collaboration With Robert Arellano

"The Soul's Mailbox" is a meditation on fathers and sons for the Lawson Inada and Friends Poetry Celebration at SOU. Bobby Arellano, Director for SOU's Center for Emerging Media and Digital Arts (EMDA) wrote and recorded the poem, and I did the chicken-scratchin'.

Wausau, Wisconsin is Where You Ought To Be

I'm visiting University of Wisconsin, Marathon County under the auspices of the lovely and talented, Diana Budde. She's been taking her drawing and painting students to local elementary schools to work on comics and storyboards, and I've been lucky enough to tag along and do some demos. The kids are way cool and inspiring. The highlight so far has been drawing Kyklopean Lincoln at. . . Lincoln School. Here's a recreation. . .
